The Department of Petroleum Resources issued a circular dated March 30 2020. This circular was made pursuant to President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive on COVID19 of 29 March 2020. To this end certain measures are meant to be taken on activities at project/construction sites in the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry.
Accordingly, all operators and their contractors are required to adhere strictly to the governments directive on COVDI19 and ensure that they comply with the required number of workers at their sites. In addition, this particular situation is considered as force majeure to guarantee the welfare of all personnel. All operators and contractors are also required to comply with the directives of the government and other authorities on social distancing, curfew and lockdown. Consequently all personnel are to be mobilized from these sites to the extent required to satisfy the above requirement.
