ǼLEX emerged as the winner in the Law Firm category in the finals of the 2nd Lagos Court of Arbitration Young Arbitrators Network (LCA-YAN) International Arbitration Moot Competition which held on Friday 27 July 2018. ǼLEX took the grand prize after defeating the Law Firm of Aluko & Oyebode. Our Endurance Agbor also emerged as the “Best Law Firm Advocate” in the Competition.

The LCA-YAN Moot provides opportunities for young practitioners and students to gain exposure and better appreciate the various aspects of international commercial arbitration. With the permission of the Willem C. Vis Moot Association, the 2018 Vis Moot problem was used for the LCA-YAN Moot Competition.

Those that represented the Firm as advocates from the Arbitration Practice Group of AELEX (TAG) were Endurance Agbor, Chizaram Uzodinma, Cynthia Eke and Gabriel Nwodo. The Faculty Members of TAG, who trained the advocates, were Ibifubara Berenibara, Olatoye Akinbode, Ngozi Efobi, Ishaya Amaza and Odinaka Okoye.

At the end of the competition, the coach of the team and coordinator of TAG,  Mr. Ibifubara Berenibara (a Senior Associate in the Firm)  said “I greatly appreciate the team and the faculty’s dedication to participating in the LCA-YAN moot. This precipitated our overwhelming success at the competition.”

The Firm is indeed proud of the ǼLEX Arbitration Practice Group and commend it for this valiant effort!
