BEDC, Thames, Delta sign MoU for 20MW Isoko power plant.  Guardian Online 

Efforts at ensuring that over 200 commercial entities around Ozoro, in Isoko Local Government area of Delta State benefit from power supply got a boost, as Benin Electricity Distribution Plc (BEDC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with Thames Energy Limited, and the Delta State Government on the construction of 20megawatts power plant in the area.


The MoU signing, which took place at BEDC Head Office in Benin signalled a tripartite partnership that is expected to galvanise the potential of the commercial entities, in addition to rejuvenating the economy of the Isoko, and thus make the location an economic hub for Delta State.


The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, BEDC, Mrs Funke Osibodu, was quoted in a statement as saying that the company is poised to make the project a reality with a view to improving the socio-economic development of the Isoko people and Delta state at large.  Read more


Electric Power Exhibition Flagged off in Lagos.  Thisday Online 

One of Nigeria’s leading power exhibitions which is dedicated to the burgeoning African power industry has commenced in Lagos yesterday at the Landmark Centre, and will end on September 7.


The exhibition which was officially inaugurated by the Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Usman Gur Mohammed, is set to again attract the power industry stakeholders and its market value chain, from decision makers and business leaders to experts and trade professionals who will gather to deliberate the latest trends and progression within the country’s power sector.


Speaking at the official opening ceremony, Mohammed noted that “the exhibition plays a key role in promoting the latest products and solutions both locally and internationally, while putting the spotlight on issues such as solar power and energy efficiency.”  Read more
