Aviation Union Urges EFCC to Prosecute Airlines over N15bn Debts. Thisday Online

Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAPs) Thursday called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to arrest and prosecute all debtor airlines in the country for the N15 billion debt profile of the ticket and cargo sales charge (TSC).

 

But most of these debts are owed by airlines, which have gone under and others liquidated and may never be recovered.

 

Speaking to aviation reporters in Lagos Thursday, the Secretary General of ANAP, Abdulrasaq Saidu, described the airlines’ action as an economic offence that has grown into an entitlement for the airlines, which piling debts are killing the agencies.  Read more

 

Rwand Air Gets Fifth Freedom, Adds Lagos – Accra to Route Network. Thisday Online

As part of its consolidation on the African market, East African carrier, Rwand Air has added Lagos – Accra to its route network, as it gets fifth freedom approval from Nigeria.

 

Rwand Air Country Manager, Nigeria , Ibiyemi Odusi explained in a statement issued in Lagos that the direct flight between the two West African cities was a fall out of the fifth freedom right the carrier secured from the Nigerian government.

 

She said the airline has been operating the Lagos – Accra flights since March 23, 2017 and has created more travel options for passengers on the route.  Read more
