AELEX Annual Lecture
AELEX held its 7th Annual Lecture titled “Corruption: The Thief in Broad Daylight” at the AGIP Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos on Thursday, July 7, 2011.
The guest speaker at the lecture was Mr. John Githongo (A former Kenyan Permanent Secretary for Governance and Ethics). The story of Mr. Githongo’s fight against corruption in Kenya is chronicled in Michela Wrong’s book: “It’s Our Turn to Eat: The Story of a Kenyan Whistle-Blower.”
The Honourable Justice Emmanuel Olayinka Ayoola, a retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and a former Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission chaired the event. As usual, a panel of experts consisting of Ms. Alexandra Wrage, President, TRACE International, Mr. Bismarck Rewane, Managing Director, Financial Derivatives Company Limited and Mr. Simon Kolawole, Editor and Divisional Director, THISDAY discussed the issues arising out of Mr. Githongo’s presentation.
