Godwin is a Managing Associate in the firm’s Dispute Resolution Practice Group. He has extensive experience in commercial litigation, real property, labour, employment and industrial relations, as well as environmental law, particularly in the area of the conservation of marine resources.
Godwin practices in all superior courts in Nigeria and has been involved in the successful defence of a multi-national company in respect of claims at the National Industrial Court relating to a trade dispute with 2 trade unions. He has also successfully defended a first generation bank against a claim involving thousands of dollars by a local company, as well as successfully prosecuted a claim of over N100 million in favour of a local construction company against a local bank. He was a member of the ǼLEX team which was successful in an appeal involving a Multi-National Energy and Gas Company at the Supreme Court in 2016. He is a specialist contributor for Nigeria to the World Justice Project’s Rule of Law’s Index on Labour & Employment.

Akinloye currently represents an international ship management company in a GBP2million claim for breach of a ship management agreement. He is also advising an aircraft leasing company in the lease of 2 aircraft to a local carrier in Ghana. He regularly represents major international airlines in passenger, baggage and cargo claim, both in Nigeria and Ghana.
He has represented clients in defending labour-related matters. He regularly advised Protection & Indemnity (P & I) Clubs generally on maritime law issues in Nigeria & Ghana. He was part of the team that advised a multinational oil and engineering services company on the incorporation of a subsidiary oil servicing company; registration with the Ghanaian National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC); regulatory compliance issues in the construction and operation of a multi-million dollar FPSO offshore Takoradi in joint venture with a Ghanaian group of oil exploration companies. He was part of the team that advised a Dutch oil service company on issues related to the construction, installation and leasing of an FPSO facility to the Jubilee Field Unit in Ghana; and on Ghana business entry issues. He has represented an international oil service company in a multi-million dollar debt recovery claim.
