Tonye is a Managing Associate of the firm. He has over ten years combined practice experience both as external Counsel and as in-house Counsel in the Nigerian banking industry. As a member of the firm’s commercial and corporate practice, he has advised corporate clients on aspects of Nigerian law including banking, contracts, due diligence, labour law, local content issues in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry and taxation matters.

As a member of the firm’s dispute resolution practice, Tonye regularly appears in Nigerian courts of superior record in matters and appeals involving clients in the banking, construction, energy, transportation (aviation and maritime) and telecommunications industries. He has also liaised with various law enforcement agencies on clients’ behalf.

Tonye is a Chartered Mediator and Conciliator and holds a masters (LL.M) degree in Transnational Oil, Gas and Energy Law from the University of Derby, United Kingdom. He currently manages the firm’s Port Harcourt practice.
