The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) had its 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Kigali, Rwanda from June 26 to July 1, 2017. On the side-lines of the AGM, the bank organised seminars with the following themes: Trade as a catalyst for industrialising Africa; Boosting Intra-African trade for regional integration; and Expanding African trade in a world of rising protectionism.
The seminars held from 28th June to 30th June 2017, and were attended by eminent global personalities drawn from academia, business community, banking and finance, and policy makers with proven knowledge and expertise in the growth and development of African trade. Mr. Lawrence F. Anga, a partner in Aelex and head of the firm’s Banking & Finance practice and Mrs. Onyinyechi Iwuoha were in attendance at the seminars.
In addition to these seminars, a number of side events covering topics of relevance to African trade and trade financing, including the implications the implications of trade-based money laundering and the opportunities that Brexit could offer Africa were also organised by the Bank.
